It’s heartbreaking that cancer has become so prevalent in our world that nearly everyone you meet has either battled against or knows someone who is battling it. What’s even more heartbreaking is that though there are studies upon studies going on, there is not a definitive answer to this conundrum…but there is a way to help.
Caps for Chemo, a BOGO (buy one, give one) campaign, was started by Katy from Handmade Escapade in 2011. Each hat that is ordered is made twice: the first goes to you (the buyer) and it’s duplicate goes to a chemotherapy patient in the local area (Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). In the last three years, over $1500 has been raised and 126 hats have been given!
What better way is there to support those who have been handed this diagnosis? You both get incredibly fun and cozy hats to wear and you get to support a fantastic, fun-loving girl and her business, at the same time!
Check out some of Katy’s unique creations below. These are only a sample (and my favorites) so be sure to check out her shop for the full listing of caps! Or visit her blog to learn more about Caps for Chemo.
