We’re here to help you learn and grow, so naturally, we share affiliate links for products that we use and love. When you click on one of these links, we will earn a small amount of money, at no additional cost to you, which we’ll use towards keeping the lights on here! You can read our full disclaimer here.

It’s another edition of Currently, where I share what’s going on currently (I know, go figure, right?) in this little life of mine.  It’s also a great opportunity for me to connect with others through the awesome link up over at A Mama Collective – they accept me, even though I’m not yet a mama, whew!

I’d love for you to share your current happenings in the comments below or join me over at the link up – here!

Thinking about: My days are all screwed up.  Last week I was certain that Thursday was Friday, and what with the long weekend, I’m at it again.  Today is Friday right…WRONG!  If it feels like Friday, it should totally BE Friday.  Well at least in my mind, haha!

Reading about: I finally got around to starting my new book for the Proverbs 31 Ministries online Bible study.  I’m pretty stoked about it.  It’s all about removing the labels that life has put on us and instead accepting the task of seeing ourselves as God see us…perfect.  Sounds right up my alley, doesn’t it?

What is better yet, is that it starts out the book with one of my favorite Bible stories.  David and Goliath.  If only you’d had an opportunity to be a fly on the wall of my bedroom when I was growing up.  My dad tells the most impressive version of this story; sound effects and all!

A few of my favorite quotes so far…

“The ‘Afraid’ label produces fear.  And fear is a thief that steals the courage of far too many, paralyzing and imprisoning them in a life of mediocrity.  I’ve not only seen it, I have experienced it.  My story is tattooed with ‘Afraid’.”

“I wish just one person had told me, ‘Derwin, your value as a human is not in making a football team.  You are valuable because God purchased your life with the life of His Son.'”

Listening to: When I went to the He’s Alive reunion, a dear friend told me about the artist Ellie Holcomb.  I had never heard of her, but only days later, just as I pulled into my parking spot behind my house, her folksy voice came on the radio.  I’ve been listening to her new album, As Sure As the Sun pretty much on repeat.  I adore her song, “The Broken Beautiful”!!

Watching: I really haven’t had much time to watch television and that’s really okay because most of my faves are on hiatus anyways.  However, I’ve been rewatching some of my favorite Brits, in the BBC’s Sherlock.  There’s just something about the man and his name, Benedict Cumberbatch!  I mean say it, out loud, it’s great!  And so is the show!

Thankful for: The opportunity to witness so many new beginnings in the lives of loved ones over this last weekend.  My cousin (whom I had the supreme pleasure of watching grow up before my eyes) graduated high school.  I also was witness to the dedication of the two sweet babes of a couple of my friends.  Though iPhones are not always the greatest in capturing high quality images, the convenience of snapping these photos at a moments notice is a blessing!

Wishing/Praying for:

  • My brother to have a fantastic and safe time while he’s on his work vacay (there was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake only 30 miles from him yesterday – YIKES!)
  • That my brother has safe travels coming home tomorrow
  • That my big sis (the beautiful goofball pictured below) has the happiest of birthdays tomorrow

(This week’s goals)

  • That I can pull together a last minute gift for my sis – nothing like waiting until the last minute, way to go Bree!  ::rolls eyes::
  • Tackle the laundry that is starting to pile up again
  • Get my bedroom in some assemblance of order
  • Install the AC window units so I don’t melt into a puddle overnight
  • Make an appointment for an oil change for Ellie, my car
  • Get my hair cut, either by mom or actually visit the salon
  • Get caught up on reading for my Bible study and also my eCourses for blogging – I might need a clone or an assistant!

    1. Hey Tiffany, thanks for stopping by! “Currently” is featured on A Mama Collective every Monday, but you can always link-up later in the week, such as I did today! I used to write these type of posts all of the time before I settled on a niche and I think it’s a fun way to recap and showcase life just as it is…currently! 🙂
