Have you ever stood in front of the mirror and stared at your reflection until you didn’t recognize yourself anymore?

Doubtful.  You know every eye crease, smile line, scar, and sprig of grey hair.  You know each back story.  And you might even wear them proudly like badges of honor received during seasons of trials and mayhem.

No matter how long I stare.  No matter how many times I comb the cowlick that won’t lay flat.  No matter how many times I swipe foundation over the spot that won’t be covered.  I won’t achieve perfection.

But I can be confident that I am recognized.

Perfection has been achieved for us.

But it is only by reflecting someone else that we’ll achieve it.  No, I’m not talking about grabbing another bottle of hair dye, or new lip plumper the next time you are at the pharmacy.

The perfection I’m talking about walks, talks, and after spending two days in the ground, He breathes too!

It is by believing in Him that we are recognized by the Father as perfect.

Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us.  Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.  Hebrews 12:1-2, HCSB

Let’s change your reflection on perfection!

Consider what this means to your reflection in the mirror.  Consider what this means for your walk with Christ.
