How can it be October 1st already?  I am definitely grateful for the cooler weather and my ability to dust of my favorite sweaters and boots for this season, but seriously, where did the year go?

October Goals

October Goals

I thought that since this month is going to be chocked full of activity, that I’d share my goals so maybe we can hold each other accountable for the priorities in life.

  1. Spending time in the Word // My small group just started an exegetical study on 1 Thessalonians last week and I was a little overwhelmed at first.  I’ve really enjoyed verse mapping in the past, but the list of what to look for and a page worth of scripture was a bit much for my first try at this approach.  After a really great discussion last night, I’m feeling much better knowing that I can bite off small pieces of this and not try to swallow the elephant whole (thanks Preston!) as we continue through the book.  I’m really excited for what this will mean for our group and what we will gain from being more intentional with our time spent studying individually and collectively.
  2. Getting organized // Some of my favorite bloggers have been doing tours of their homes lately and it has really motivated me to get on the ball and get my space organized.  Also my cousins are coming in for the holidays from England and will be staying at my place, so there’s no time like the present!  With little storage space, it’s going to be a challenge, but I think I’m up for it!
  3. Stay on top of responsibilities // I was careless and allowed my teaching certificate to expire and so I’ve added a few more things to my overflowing plate for this month and next.  With working full time, blogging, leading the book study on Let’s All Be Brave, interpreting at church, small group, Zumba, and now two college courses, I’ll be lucky to make it to Thanksgiving without completely burning out!  Prayers would be greatly appreciated!
  4. To savor the season // Fall is one of my favorite times of the year with the ability to break out my favorite pieces of my wardrobe, including my brown suede boots (that I try to pair with every outfit – yes, brown works with black and blue!).  The colors of the trees, the pumpkin spiced EVERYTHING and football back on TV makes this girl very happy.  But with fall also comes a time that can be taken for granted.  With a chill in the air, it’s easy to come inside and plant yourself in front of the TV or computer and forget about those actually in your midst.  I do hope to get a few good books read, but I intend to make some time for some face-to-face action with those I love.

What are your goals for October?

  1. I love all your goals! 🙂
Staying on top of responsibilities is so hard sometimes- but oh so good!

I am starting a study on 1 and 2 Thessalonians later this month with some other women! 🙂

  2. Great post Bree!! I have to do my October goals too but with leading my small group now blogging is becoming more than I can chew at the moment. But I’ll definitely be putting mine’s out there and try to make them more manageable so I don’t feel like a total loser when I don’t get it all done lol.
