A friend of mine once told me that the reason I got my Master’s degree in Literacy, Language, and Learning was to have an excuse to buy more books. I mean, she wasn’t wrong!

But in all honesty, I cannot fathom how the purchase of any book could be considered a poor investment. Well, maybe a few… but the ones I’m about to share with you, they top the charts, in my eyes at least!

6 Faith-Full Books for Christian Women

One of the greatest pleasures of leading an online ministry that focuses on spending time reading books together with other women, is that I get to read many book reviews and critiques.

I always find it fascinating when a theme appears amongst books that are released in a similar timeframe from one another. God is just so good like that!

But I also love to find books that sound appealing, and turn out to be more life transforming than you ever imagined!

Number 06: A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23, W. Phillip Keller

I may be partial to this book because Psalm 23 has held such a special place in my heart for many years, partly because it was the first passage of Scripture that I committed to memory, but this take on this familiar Psalm is eye-opening and breath-taking.

Explore the language of David and the difference of perspectives that are conveyed in these short six verses. The book is fantastic to read alone but would be great to study with a group as well.

Number 05: Finding I Am, Lysa TerKeurst

I have always been fascinated with the historical aspect of Scripture, so I immediately fell for the teachings of Lysa TerKeurst in her Bible Study, Finding I Am as it explores the seven “I Am” statements found in Scripture.

Paired with the beautifully shot videos on location in Israel, this study has what it takes to make you want to brush up on your history (in the Old Testament) to see how it is fulfilled through the life of Jesus.

Number 04: Goliath Must Fall, Louie Giglio

Do you struggle with anxiety? Or do you know someone who does?

This book is a MUST read for the Christian waging war with their anxious thoughts!

Coming out of the most challenging season of my life, to date, Louie’s book helped me to put my chaotic thoughts into words and helped me to explore my feelings in a way that felt familiar and safe, by holding them up to be filtered through the lens of Scripture.

It is, without a doubt, one of my most marked up books – with highlighting and notes scribbled in the margins – that I own.

Number 03: It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way, Lysa TerKeurst

No matter who you are, or what season of life you’re in, I’m certain you’ve uttered the phrase, “it’s not fair” at least once. Life isn’t fair. And it’s not suppose to be this way.

The bold and brave story of how author and founder of Proverbs 31 Ministries, Lysa TerKeurst took control of her life when it seemed shattered beyond repair is such an encouraging and timely book. There is healing waiting for you between its covers.

Number 02: Beautiful Outlaw, John Eldredge

You know your best friend’s personality like the back of your hand. You know what makes them tick and the way they react in different circumstances.

What if we knew Jesus and His personality just as intimately?

John Eldredge’s book allows us to do just that. It provides a beautiful invitation to get to know Jesus and His personality, and familiarize yourself with it, so that no matter where you look, you’ll see Him.

Number 01: Jesus and Women, by Kristi McLelland

Is your faith-life dry and lackluster? Take one walk through the Jesus & Women study and see your life and faith transform before you!

I knew the importance of the context of Scripture, but not in the way that college professor and Biblical culturalist, Kristi McLelland teaches it!

Do yourself a favor and don’t skimp on the study. Fully invest the time necessary to watch the 7-video sessions and read the study guide. You won’t be sorry. Pinky promise!

Oh, and be ready to fall in love with Jesus all over again because, my friend, He’s better than we ever knew!
