Chapter 26: On Women – Pages 198-204

Sisters, you were made for more.

I am not talking about more stuff, more wealth, more fame, more to-do’s; I’m talking about more in Jesus. I am talking about recognizing your true identity in the King of Kings that has your very steps directed in such a way that will radically change your heart, make Him known, and impact a waning, broken world so desperately in need of what our Savior has to offer.

These offerings can come through your very hands and feet by grace. You have authority as a change agent for Christ and were made to wear His heart on your sleeve, beloved. He has designed you with great intention and purpose; not one part of you is insignificant in His great plan.

Do you believe you were made for more, woman of God? I do.

This very selfhood that you posses has been authored and perfected by a unbounded God that calls you to also live a life in Him without limits. Imagine a world of women that occupied their sphere of influence in the fullness of His power within them. Will you respond to this high call? Will you see what you are truly made of, image-bearer?

The mirror of the world tells us that we fall short, but His heart reflects to us a deeper love that calls us out to live boldly in our giftings with confidence and trust. He has equipped us as written in Ephesians 3:12:

Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

Women, we live in an interesting dichotomy right now between our innate capabilities and the imposed impossible standards set by the world we live in.

There is a very real war on women going on; a very real injustice that exists in our day and age. On top of that, there is an internal war we inflict on ourselves and other women that mutes our Kingdom progress.

We judge ourselves and each other. We deflect and blame. We deny our gifts and strengths; we compare and contrast; we shrink back and withhold. We short change intentional, fruitful living under the guise of busyness. Soon we begin to tune in to the opposition.

We dismiss our high call because the fear of failure wrapped in unattainable perfectionism arrests our minds and the battle rages on. Life idles, we stop taking risks and we stop listening to the Voice that asks us live in boldness and confidence.

The laundry lists of life’s demands soon take precedence over the commands of an all knowing, all trusting God that has so much more in store to a heart beating truth.

While we as women are capable of incredible victory in almost every sphere of life, the weight of these impossible standards is holding it’s proverbial boot against our neck. The moment we try and move forward in our calling, the enemy of our souls, the great accuser, lies that we are not enough and our lives are capped at a certain point.

The Word tells us this is not true. We are saved to do his holy work and we are chosen and called in 1 Peter 2:9:

But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. 

What is holding you back, beloved? You are called by a great God to be more; to live in the absolute protection and fullness of His grace. Let us respond to this Great Love by confidently living out the high call as women of God. Jen Hatmaker affirms our calling as women after His heart:

“It’s time. Don’t wait for permission; we’ve already been given it. Lead, sister. You have authority to use your home as a sanctuary, your hands as tools of healing, your voice as an instrument of hope, your gifts as channels of incredible power. ‘If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy; do it cheerfully’ (Romans 12:6-8).  Let’s do this. Let’s fulfill the good work we’ve been commissioned to. Silence any voice that whispers “not enough” and stand in truth as an approved worker. You are. Jesus made you so.” {For the Love}

Sister, you are more than enough. Just as you are. In your own skin. With your unique and beautiful purpose and callings.

You are not limited by the narrow confines of this world; you are destined to travel a highway of holiness before the very throne of God receiving and wearing many crowns.

You were made for more, woman of God. Take heart and live free in who He has made you to be.
