I meant to post here last Friday evening. I meant I meant to post here last Friday evening. I meant to share some news on what I feel God is calling me and the ministry of Intentional Filling to… but I was otherwise ENGAGED! Yes, you read that right—Ryan proposed! 💍 And I said, YES! 🎉 I promise this space and ministry won’t turn into a wedding blog, but I may occasionally share some of the lessons we’re learning in this new chapter of our lives. Like how we’re already experiencing the blessing of trusting in God as we simultaneously hold joy and grief—a practice that is very Jewish in nature. And how we’ve both seen God moving in the details. But for now, some ministry news… As we continue to reassess how to best serve our community through our services and the products we offer, and through much prayer and contemplation, we’ve decided to expand our collection of DIGITAL PRODUCTS. These will include: • PRINTABLES • To assist you with your day-to-day time spent in the Word • DIGITAL GUIDES • To help you dig deeper and spend more intentional time discovering Jesus on every page of Scripture • CURATED RESOURCES • We’re building a comprehensive collection of resources that have become our “go-tos” over the years • VIDEO LIBRARY • Access to our previous Biblical Study discussions to use on your own, or with your small group Will we still offer physical products?? Yes and No. • Yes—but now we’ll only offer them as a short run multiple times a year. Feel like you’re not “qualified” to study th Feel like you’re not “qualified” to study the Bible? You’re not alone. Imposter syndrome can creep in and whisper things like, “I’m not smart enough” “I don’t know enough” “Who am I to teach others?” But here’s the capital “T” Truth: 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏’𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒅. 𝑯𝒆 𝒒𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅. You don’t need a seminary degree to seek God. You need a willing heart. Start small. Stay curious. Ask questions. And trust that the Holy Spirit will guide you as you grow. Remember: Confidence doesn’t come from knowing it all. It comes from knowing the One who does. Q: Do you write in your Bible? A: That is somethi Q: Do you write in your Bible? A: That is something that really took me a long time to feel comfortable doing. In fact, today, my Timehop app reminded me of a post that I shared a couple of years ago about how I used to look down upon my friends who used to write in their textbooks in college. I guess I scoffed at one of my friends, at one time as she was highlighting. She told me, “Bree, you know, I own this book. I bought this book. I don’t intend to return it. It’s not from the library. This is a way I map out and provide myself some lighthouses during the stormy time of life. That way I can come back to and find the information, and know where it is, and that I can find it more easily.” So I really encourage you to take your time reading through the passage, making note of the context, as you are reading, that can teach you more about what is happening. Get a set of your favorite colored pens, to highlight and underline, and write in the margins. Make note of the things that help you build the context of what you’re reading: • the time period, • the names, • key phrases, • context clues down in the footnotes. For more years than I care to admit, reading my Bi For more years than I care to admit, reading my Bible wasn’t on my radar, simply because it was too overwhelming. Whenever I did find the courage to crack open those impossibly thin pages, I would hope and pray that that might be the day I understood what I read. But all too quickly, I’d be overcome with more questions than answers, so again, I’d close my Bible and promise God I’d try again another day. I longed to have insights and find encouragement and comfort from the ancient words like my peers, but I didn’t know if it would ever be possible. But God allowed me to find the book, Jesus & Women, by @kristimclelland that opened up a whole new way of looking at Scripture that helped me fall in love with Jesus all over again. Nearly six years later, I lead weekly Bible studies via Zoom that involve the insights, encouragement, and comfort I longed for years ago, and a deeper connection with the Living God that I ever thought possible. I’m here to tell you that it’s possible for you to say adios to overwhelm and welcome to Bible Study confidence. I put together this quick 5 step guide to help you dive deeper into God’s Word and read it with confidence.
